Drive-by shooting on Manchester street

A man has been wounded by a gunman in Levenshulme

Police are hunting a guman who shot a man in a drive-by shooting in Levenshulme.

The victim, in his 30s was wounded in the leg in the front garden of a house on Forest Range at about 7pm (Wednesday 22 June).

Police sealed off the road to investgate the incident and say a motive for the attack remains unknown at this stage.

GMP has increased patrols in the area and are appealing for witnesses who might be able to identify the gunman or the car he escaped in.

Detective Superintendent Philip Reade from GMP's Major Incident Team said: "People will undoubtedly be alarmed when they hear news of this shooting but I would like to try and reassure them that we have significant resources investigating this incident and extra patrols in the area.

"Our investigation is at an early stage and we are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this shooting, or who saw or heard anything they think may be linked to it.
