Diverted flight lands in Cornwall after onboard medical emergency

A Jet2 flight, on it way from Tenerife to Manchester was forced to land in Cornwall, after a passenger fell unwell on board.

It happened on Sunday evening, onboard the LS756 flight from the Canary Island.

A statement from the airline says the flight was diverted after a passenger was taken ill - landing at Cornwall Airport Newquay.

Devon and Cornwall Police say despite best efforts, the woman, who was in her 60s and from Cheshire, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her next of kin have been informed.

Jet2 have thanked the passengers and staff onboard the plane, for their assistance during the emergency.

The airline have offered their thoughts to the woman's family.
