There are ongoing delays with the train services between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport stations due to reports of a man on the tracks.

At around 5:30am this morning, British Transport Police were called to the incident stating that specialist officers were at the scene.

National Rail have said:

"Due to the delicate nature of the situation, there is no firm estimate for when the line will reopen. We currently expect disruption to last until at least 5pm.

"A limited Northbound service is operating from the Stockport direction towards Manchester.

"Some Northbound trains will still be diverted via alternative routes into Manchester.

"Southbound trains from Manchester towards Stockport will continue to be diverted or cancelled."

Passengers who are experiencing delays are advised to check their routes before they travel and to use replacement bus services.

If you are travelling between Stockport and Manchester, these are the buses that take a direct route.
