Josh Marshall, a dad from Kansas, has shared a touching photo after he got a tattoo to match his son’s scar from having cancer surgery.

In 2015, eight-year-old Gabriel was diagnosed with a form of cancer called anaplastic astrocytoma, a rare malignant brain tumour.

Gabriel's apparently recovering well after surgery, though parts of the tumour have still been left in his brain. It's also left the youngster with a huge scar on his head, which makes him feel like a ‘monster’.

Josh told ABC news: ‘My son was very self-conscious after he got his surgery.

‘I said, ‘You know what, I’ll get your scar tattooed. That way, if people want to stare at you, then they can stare at both of us.’

Josh has documented Gabriel’s journey on Facebook and his act of kindness even won him the Best Bald Dad competition, for family members who’ve shaved their head to help children with cancer.

His story has been shared across social media and his picture has had more than 100,000 likes.
