A cyclist is in hospital with "life-threatening" injuries after being hit by a horsebox near Manchester Airport

Emergency services were called to Wilmslow Road at around 08:00BST on Monday (09 September), to reports of a collision between a bike and a vehicle.

It is believed the cyclist, in his 60s, was knocked off his bike by the horsebox, while both were travelling south-bound along the road, near to the junction with Sunbank Lane.

No arrests have been made, but police are appealing to speak to any witnesses, particularly the driver of a white VW Polo that was behind the horsebox at the time.

Anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage is asked to contact the Greater Manchester force.
