A cyclist has suffered "life threatening injuries" after a collision involving a taxi and a bus in the city centre.

Emergency services were called at around 10.20pm on Friday night, after reports of a crash involving a pedal cyclist, a taxi and a bus at the junction of Booth Street East and Oxford Road.

Paramedics attended, and a 20 year old man was taken to hospital, where he remains for treatment.

The bus driver was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving. He has since been released under investigation.

Greater Manchester Police now want anyone who saw anything, or who has dashcam, to contact them. In a statement, the force said: "“We are currently investigating this very serious incident and we are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or were in the vicinity of Oxford Road and Booth Street East at 10.20pm last night, to come forward.

"We are also looking for any CCTV, dashcam or mobile footage from the area."
