Crash leaves pensioner with serious head injuries

The man was cut out of the car by fire crews and was taken to hospital.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a crash in Littleborough left a 77-year-old man in hospital with serious head injuries.

At around 7.45pm on Monday the 30th of Novemner, the elderly man was driving a blue Vauxhall Corsa south east along Rakewood Road.

As he drove around the tight corner at the junction with Lake Bank, near to the Wine Press, the car mounted the pavement and hit with the railings.

The man was cut out of the car by fire crews and was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.

No other vehicles were involved in the collision.
