Former Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has been robbed at gunpoint at his home in Rome.

Police in the Italian capital are investigating after 3 men forced their way into the house and ordered him to open a safe containing a Rolex, jewellery and around 300 euros in cash.

Smalling completed a permanent move from United to Roma last year.
