On Monday 15 January 2024, at around 4:15 pm, police were called to an incident on a Metrolink tram between Hollinwood Metrolink Station and Rochdale Train Station.

Police initially received reports of a dispute and assault involving two women while on a journey between the two stops.

Initial enquiries suggest, the suspect, believed to be a white female in her 50s with an Irish accent, boarded the tram and sat next to the female victim (aged 26). The assaults began with aggressive elbowing and kicking.

Metrolink staff intervened, removing the victim to safety. However, moments later the suspect continued to assault the victim, lunging towards her, biting the victim's hand - drawing blood from the victim’s hand and hitting her repeatedly before leaving the tram at Rochdale Train Station.

Police were called to the scene and an investigation is underway to identify and locate the suspect of these assaults.

Officers are appealing to the public for any information and are looking to speak to the woman pictured above as officers believe she may have further information regarding this incident.
