Boy, 14, charged with assault after teen stabbed in Old Trafford

Police investigating the stabbing of a teenage boy in Old Trafford have charged a 14-year-old boy with assault.

Emergency services were called on the evening of Saturday 18 June to reports of an assault in Seymour Park.

They found a 13-year-old boy with stab injuries - he was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital. The teenager has now been discharged and is recovering at home.

A 14-year-old boy, who's also been charged with possession of a bladed article, was due to appear in court today.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "A 14-year-old boy has been charged with section 18 assault and possession of a bladed article after another teenager was stabbed in Old Trafford and is due to appear in court today.

"Officers were called at around 5:10pm on Saturday 18 June 2022 to reports of an assault in Seymour Park.

"A 13-year-old boy was found with stab injuries and treated at the scene by the emergency services.

"He was taken to hospital but has is now recovering at home.

"There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area."
