Boy, 15, in hospital after robbery and stabbing in Old Trafford

Police say it happened at around 3am on Darnley Street this morning

A 15-year-old boy is hospital with serious injuries after being robbed and stabbed in Old Trafford.

Police were called to Darnley Street in Old Trafford in the early hours this morning at around 3am after reports of a stabbing following a robbery of a 15-year-old.

The boy was taken to hospital and remains there for treatment to serious injuries but is currently in a stable condition.

Detectives are now appealing for information about the incident and a scene is still in place as officers continue to investigate and establish the full circumstances.

A police statment says "It is believed three males were in a black vehicle at the time and following swift actions from officers and sighting the vehicle, a 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and remains in custody for questioning regarding this incident after being detained in nearby Chorlton.

"GMP are now keen to gather any further information from the public that may help in the investigation."

Detective Sergeant John Seaton from Trafford CID, said; “This is a vicious attack on a young man in the early hours of this morning and following extensive work in a short time period we are now in a position to appeal to the public to ask if they saw anything suspicious around the Old Trafford area at the time of the incident, or indeed if they saw what happened.

“We are exploring all lines of enquiry and have already made an arrest in connection with this incident. We have increased our patrols in the area to offer visible reassurance and also encourage anyone to speak to our officers in person as they are there to help you if you have any concerns.”
