BMW crashes on busy Stockport road after failing to stop for police

A busy road in Stockport has been closed following a crash involving a BMW which failed to stop for police.

A man in his 50s has been rushed to hospital following the collision off Cheadle Road in Cheadle Hulme at around 01:20BST on Wednesday morning (08 October).

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: "Officers are currently dealing with an incident on The Spinney in Cheadle.

"Shortly after 01:20 on Wednesday 8 October, a BMW was involved in a collision after failing to stop for police.

"A male in his 50s has been taken to hospital and remains in a serious condition.

"The A5149 Cheadle Road is currently closed from Schools Hill to Farley Court whilst officers investigate."

Traffic is currently being diverted up Schools Hill, away from the scene.
