£2.8 million for Mission Christmas
And amazing 61,874 children will be helped
KEY103’s ‘Mission Christmas’ appeal has had a record-breaking year raising a grand total of £2,897,259.14, which will help a massive 61, 874 disadvantaged children across Greater Manchester.
With the support of a number of famous faces, including Rio Ferdinand, the Key103 charity ‘Cash for Kids’ has been inviting listeners and locals over the last few weeks to buy one extra gift so that as many children as possible living in poverty wake up with a present on Christmas morning.
Mission Christmas is the largest Christmas toy appeal in the UK.
With nearly 1 in 3 children living in poverty this December, for many families Christmas is simply a luxury they can’t afford.
KEY103’s Breakfast show host Mike Toolan said: “With so many children living below the poverty line in Manchester, Mission Christmas is there to help where we can and make the festive period that little bit brighter for families in need across our local communities. We are overwhelmed by the generosity of the people in Greater Manchester. It’s so amazing to see so many people helping families who are struggling at this time of year”
KEY103’s Cash for Kids Charity Manager Russell Feingold added: “With the poverty stats getting worse every year we wanted to see if we could raise the bar and support even more children this Christmas. We set a target to help 60 thousand children. The 2016 total has completely blown us away. On behalf of the charity and everyone at KEY103 I can’t thank Greater Manchester enough for your overwhelming generosity.”
