16-year old boy dies in collision in Tameside

The 18-year old driver of the car has been arrested

Greater Manchester Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a 16-year-old lost his life when a car was in a collision with a lamp post in Audenshaw, Tameside.

Two others suffered minor and serious injuries, whilst the 18-year-old driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene and remains in custody for questioning after treatment to his injuries.

Greater Manchester Police were called at around 8pm last night (Sat Oct 15th) to a serious collision on Droylsden Road, Tameside as it approached North Road.

Emergency services attended the scene and despite the best attempts of officers and paramedics a passenger of the vehicle that collided with a lamp post was sadly pronounced dead a short time later after suffering fatal injuries.

Specialist officers are supporting the victim's family.

GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now appealing for anyone who may have seen the car, described as a white Vauxhall Corsa, and the collision in a busy area of Audenshaw during the evening to get in touch to help their investigation.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have footage, including dashcam, mobile phone or CCTV/doorbell footage from the area in the moments before the collision took place.
