In 1990, Roald Dahl’s novel The Witches was adapted for the big screen, leaving children - and adults - terrified. The story of young Luke visiting his grandma in Norway before being turned into a mouse left a lasting impression on audiences, and now it seems the story is set to frighten a whole new generation.
According to Variety, film legends Alfonso Cuarón, Guillermo del Toro and Robert Zemeckis are teaming up to do a new version of the original film, which starred Anjelica Huston as the petrifying Grand High Witch.
If you aren’t familiar, the film is an adaptation of the Roald Dahl kids’ (!) novel of the same name. And it was an absolute staple of our childhood.
Sometimes when we close our eyes to sleep, we can still see the Grand High Witch pull her mask off in our mind’s eye.
The remake has Academy Award winning producers Alfonso Cuaron and Guillermo del Toro, as well as director Robert Zemeckis for Warner Bros. at the helm, according to Variety. And we frankly cannot wait.

6. Dunkirk
Directed by Christopher Nolan, Dunkirk had a star-studded cast including One Direction singer Harry Styles, Tom Hardy and Mark Rylance.
5. The Death of Stalin
The comedy/drama which was released in October followers The Soviet dictator as he lives out his final days, and how chaos erupts after his death.
4. Moonlight
Loved by millions across the world, Moonlight was the winner of 3 Academy Awards including Best Picture.

In third is multi Oscar-winning musical rom-com La La Land, also starring Gosling with Academy-award winner Emma Stone.

Alfonso Cuarón is best known for directing Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban and Gravity, Guillermo del Toro fans will know his most famous films Pan's Labyrinth and last year's The Shape of Water - and the prolific Robert Zemeckis is behind beloved films such as the Back to the Future trilogy, Forrest Gump and Cast Away.
There's no word yet on who will star in the film, when production will start or even when it will be released, but Collider reports that the Warner Bros. remake will stay truer to Roald Dahl's 1983 novel than the 1990 film did.
