A major storyline has been leaked as Peter Barlow and son Simon will be caught in a life-threatening blaze on Coronation Street. The story of Chris Gasgoyne's character, Peter Barlow, and his son Simon (Alex Bain) being involved in a sudden fire appears to have been revealed and will be airing on Corrie in spring next year.

We've watched Peter battle with alcoholism throughout his time on the soap, and even survive being the victim of a drive-by shooting. But since new Corrie boss Iain MacLeod has taken the reins of the much loved soap, it seems Peter's storyline is heading south once again, putting his life at risk on the show.

According to Metro.co.uk, the blaze will take place on a boat on the canal when Simon is inside.

A TV insider said, "Someone raises the alarm and Peter races to rescue his son who has passed out from smoke inhalation. He will jump on to the burning boat and go below deck to try to get to Simon. He will manage to rescue him by throwing his lifeless body over the side and into the arms of neighbours, gathered on the side of the canal."

Shooting the scene is set to be a huge stunt, with massive pyrotechnics and special FX planned.
