Long-time Coronation Street viewers may remember that, in the depths of Weatherfield history, Liz and Jim McDonald had a daughter who was born prematurely, and sadly died. Liz and Jim, who are like the Ross and Rachel from Friends of Corrie, have been on and off more times than we can remember, but actor Charles Lawson recently revealed he would be reprising his role in the soap and returning to the cobbles.

Now, in a MASSIVE twist, reports are surfacing that Liz and Jim were the result of a hospital mix-up, and their daughter Katie actually SURVIVED.

Coronation Street stars Sally Carman and Joe Duttine are reportedly dating after a string of 'secret dates'. After attending Corrie's summer party together in July, reports suggest the couple are very happy together.

According to Metro.co.uk, the ITV soap have already cast Australian actress Hannah Ellis Ryan as the woman, who was involved in a mix-up as a baby and ended up being taken overseas - but will return to Coronation Street after tracking down her biological parents.

Charles recently revealed that he would be involved in a short storyline over the summer, but would be back on the show for a longer stay at a later date - and this could be what keeps him around this time.

Outgoing Corrie producer Kate Oates told Metro.co.uk, "We have some amazing stuff with Jim McDonald. He’s going to be coming back with a lot of resentment because of what Steve did – from his point of view, he has been rotting in prison and no-one cares."

The McDonald family will have a lot of drama coming up over the next few months, as Steve is set to marry Tracy Barlow for a THIRD time over the summer, after they rekindled their on-off romance again at Christmas last year.

Coronation Street continues on Friday 20th July on ITV at 7.30pm.
