There's a blue Christmas coming in Coronation Street. An apparent leaked storyline reveals that perennial favourite Liz McDonald, played by Beverley Callard, will be left fighting for her life following a hit-and-run on the cobbles.

And what's more, it's deliberate. But who's behind the crime?

Could it be Johnny Connor, played by Richard Hawley, with whom Liz has been dallying? Or could Johnny's wife Jenny (Sally Ann Matthews) be the one behind the wheel?

According to the Mirror, a Coronation Street source has revealed that there will be plenty of dramatic Coronation Street Christmas storyline - with Liz’s "attempted murder" being "one of the big ones."

They apparently said that Johnny will initially be arrested for it, but that "fingers are eventually pointed at Jenny."

They added, "Jenny is still angry about Liz and Johnny’s affair, which was exposed at Tracy Barlow’s wedding."

It’s the third dark storyline 'revealed' for Corrie this Christmas. It's rumoured that Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) will also be left fighting for his life after he and son Simon (Alex Bain) are caught in a fire on a boat.

And Lewis Archer, played by Nigel Havers, will apparently be killed off over New Year in another big plot line.

Gosh - why can't everyone just have a lovely time and be nice to each other?

Ho ho ho - just kidding. We LOVE it.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
