A woman has died after being hit by a car which had been driving away from police in north-west London, the Metropolitan Police said.

The incident happened at around 2.10pm on Tuesday in Grahame Park Way, Edgware.

The Met said the vehicle had been driving away from a police vehicle prior to the collision and did not stop at the scene.

Officers provided treatment to the woman before paramedics arrived but she died at the scene.

The vehicle was found abandoned a short time later and work is ongoing to locate the occupants, the Met said.

No arrests have been made and road closures remain in place.

Anyone with information on the collision is asked to call 101 or 'X' @MetCC and quote CAD4440/25Mar.
