A woman has been remanded in custody, after being charged with the murder of a man whose body was found at a home in the borough of Lewisham.

Habiba Naveed, 34 from Polsted Road in Catford was charged with murder on Friday, 16 August at a south London police station.

A murder investigation was launched, led by Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, following the discovery of the body on the same road, in the early hours of Thursday, 15 August.

Detectives have named the victim as 72-year-old Christopher Brown who was from the borough of Lewisham.

A post mortem examination found the cause of Christopher’s death to be blunt force trauma.

The Met Police say the victim and the woman charged knew each other, and they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

Ms Naveed appeared at Bromley Magistrates Court this weekend, and is due to appear next at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.

A crime scene remains in place.
