Chief Superintendent Brigid Beehag-Fisher, who leads policing in Tower Hamlets and Hackney, said: "Even though two arrests have been made I do not underestimate the impact this has had on residents and the local community. We will continue to provide an enhanced policing presence over the coming days."
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Waller, of the Met's Specialist Crime Command, said: “We would like to thank those people who have spoken to officers, but would still like to hear from anyone who was in the area of New Union Close at the time of this incident, or anyone who has any information concerning this murder who hasn’t already spoken with officers.
"No matter how insignificant your information may seem, please do get in touch."
