Two arrested at Stansted Airport in connection with Croydon murder
Police were called the house of 76-year-old Nelly Akomah on Wednesday
Two people have been arrested at Stansted Airport, on suspicion of the murder of a 76-year-old woman in Croydon.
Police say a 28-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman were taken into custody earlier today.
Emergency services were called to Ladbrook Road in Croydon around 10.40 pm on Wednesday (21/06) to reports of a woman being found dead at a house.
The victim has been named as Nelly Akomah.
A post-mortem exam is due to take place.
Police are calling the arrests "substantial progress" in a "fast moving" investigation, adding they're working to work out exactly what happened.
Chief Superintendent Andy Brittain says "People in the local area will see an increased police presence over the coming days and I would encourage anyone to come forward and speak to them to share information or to raise any concerns they may have"
