TfL bus services have been disrupted after a Hertfordshire company has abruptly withdrawn it's London buses, citing a £200,000 per month shortfall in income from the operator's TfL contracts.

Sullivan Buses, based in South Mimms, Hertsmere, confirmed that they would "reluctantly" cease providing TfL services from this weekend.

All Sullivan Buses operations in Hertfordshire are unaffected, however, and will continue to operate as normal.

The TfL alert says, "Routes 217, 298, 299, 327, 389, 399, 549, and W9 may be subject to journey cancellations due to an operator ceasing bus operations in London."

In a statement released on Friday (below), managing director Dean Sullivan said, "TfL have assured us they will be working to restore services as quickly as possible."

The statement released by Sullivan Buses.

Their main TfL routes have- as of this morning (August 4th)- already slowly started to be taken over by other bus operators.

The 217 is now run by Arriva, the 298 given to Uno, the 299 to Go-Ahead London, and the W9 to Stagecoach.

Sullivan Buses were the only independent bus operator in London and small business operating services for TfL.

Rosie Trew, TfL’s Head of Bus Service Delivery, said: “We’re sorry for any disruption caused to people’s journeys due to the withdrawal of the bus operator, Sullivan Buses.

"We are working hard to provide alternative travel options for people in the north London area with eight bus routes affected.

"We encourage those who are affected to plan ahead, allow extra time for their journeys and check before they travel using our website or the TfL Go app.”
