Met Police appeal to identify people suspected of hate crimes since Hamas attack on Israel

Police are appealing for help to identify people who are suspected of committing hate crimes and other offenses since the Hamas attack on Israel.

There are over 977 ongoing investigations across the Met to into a wide range of offenses linked to protests and incidents in communities.

The Met's specialist teams are gathering and reviewing evidence to identify those responsible for criminal behaviour to locate them.

The force says their response to each protest is complex and the work doesn't stop even when the event finishes.

Officers want to identify two men, after a journalist and her colleagues were harassed in Stanhope Gate, close to Park Lane, shortly after 1pm on Saturday.

The first suspect is a man in his 30's, with a long black beard, wearing a blue Adidas jacket, black cargo trousers with a white scarf with red and green patterns, and a black bandana.

The second suspect is a man in his 50's, with balding, greying brown hair. He is wearing blue jeans, a black leather jacket, black jumper and carrying a megaphone.

In total, 434 people have been arrested for offenses including hate crimes and public order offenses over the past seven weeks.

Chief Supt Paul Trevers said : "We know the effect of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East continues to have a significant impact on communities in London and we will do all we can to keep people safe."

"Our officers continue to meet regularly with members of the Jewish and Muslim communities across the capital to provide reassurance and respond to any concerns they may have."
