Teen jailed for 11 years after shooting 15-year-old in Hackney
The boy was running away from Kamaree Jeffrey with a group of friends
A teenager from Hackney's been jailed for 11 years, for shooting a boy in the leg.
19-year-old Kamaree Jeffrey rode up to the 15-year-old and the group of friends on an e-bike, in Garden Place on May 25th, whilst wearing a balaclava.
He then proceeded to ask the group if they're part of a gang, leading to them running off "in fear of either violence or robbery".
Jeffrey then shot at the group whilst warning them to stay away from the area, after raising a gun.
The shot landed in the leg of a 15-year-old, who required surgery but did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
The 19-year-old appeared at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Monday (August 5th), and was sentenced to 11 years in prison for possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and four years imprisonment for grievous bodily harm, after being found guilty by a jury.
Detective Chief Inspector Andrea Ireland said: “This was a unprovoked attack on a group of innocent youngsters.
“My Trident teams work in conjunction with local policing teams to prioritise the removal of lethal barrelled firearms, and those who carry or manufacture them, from the streets of London. I am pleased that Kamaree Jeffrey is no longer a danger to innocent members of the public.
“I also hope that the sentence brings some comfort to the victim and his family, in the knowledge that justice has been served.”
