Protestors block M25 junctions around London

It's understood Insulate Britain, part of the Extinction Rebellion group, is blocking off the M25 at J6, J20, J3, J31 and at Junction 14 at Heathrow

Campaigners from Insulate Britain have blocked multiple exits of the M25 this morning.

It's understood Insulate Britain, part of the Extinction Rebellion group, is blocking off the M25 at J6, J20, J3, J31 and at Junction 14 at Heathrow.

A statement on the group's website explains why they're protesting today:

"During rush hour today motorway traffic on the M25 was brought to a standstill by campaigners from Insulate Britain, a new group demanding that the government gets on with the job of insulating Britain’s homes.

"Insulate Britain says today’s disruption is just the start. Actions will continue until the government makes a meaningful commitment to insulate Britain’s 29 million leaky homes, some of the oldest and most energy inefficient in Europe."

National Highways have tweeted confirming both exit slips at J20 are closed, saying it is due to a police indcident.

They have also confirmed police are on the scene.
