Person dies after 'incident on the tracks' at Elephant & Castle

The London Ambulance Service have confirmed a person has died on the tracks of a train in south east London.

It happened at about 7.30am yesterday with multiple resources sent to Elephant and Castle - but the person died at the scene.

In a statement, a London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 7.29 am yesterday (19 August) to reports of an incident on the tracks at Elephant and Castle Underground Station.

“We sent multiple resources to the scene, including an advanced paramedic, an ambulance crew and an incident response officer.

"We also dispatched members of our hazardous area response team (HART).

“Sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene.”
