The Christmas lights are on in Oxford Street in central London.

The lights themselves are made up of 300 000 LED lightbulbs made from recycled materials, which are 75% more efficient than standard lightbulbs.

In a bid to cut energy consumption they won't be on for as long this year. It's thought the energy consumption will be cut by two-thirds in comparison to last year
