Murder investigation after man collapses in busy Camden park
55-year-old Mark Carroll was taken to hospital before his death on Wednesday (April 10)
A murder investigation has begun in Camden following the death of a man who collapsed in a busy park.
Emergency services were called to St. Martin's Gardens at around 13:35BST on Wednesday (April 10).
A man who had collapsed was taken to hospital, but despite the best efforts of health care staff, he died later that day.
It was initially thought the man, named as 55-year-old local Mark Carroll, had suffered a cardiac arrest.
But further tests revealed he had stab wounds, and a knife was recovered and sent off to forensics.
Detectives have also arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of murder.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil Rawlinson, who is leading the investigation, said: “We have spoken to several people as part of our enquiries, however we believe there may be others who witnessed this incident, or the moments leading up to it, and I would ask them to come forward.
“It is vital that we establish what happened and recover all possible evidence.”
