The Met Office has issued a warning for the whole of London, for thunderstorms.

Forecasters say while many places will remain dry, heavy rain and lightning strikes could hit parts of the city overnight.

There is the chance of flash-flooding and travel disruption, as well as possible power cuts.

The yellow weather warning will be force from midnight until 10am tomorrow (4 June).

What can we expect?

The Met Office says "while many places will stay dry, thunderstorms will bring heavy rain and lightning to some places early on Saturday" and we can expect:

There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds

Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services

Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures

There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost

The Met Office forecast states: "There is the possibility of thunderstorms moving north into southern counties of England during the early hours of Saturday, these then easing later in the morning.

"Many places will miss the worst of them, but where they do occur frequent lightning and heavy rain is possible.

"A few places could see 20-30mm of rain within an hour, with a small chance of 50mm in 2-3 hours, most likely near the south coast".
