Man jailed for killing neighbour
He stabbed him following a row over a door
A man who killed his neighbour in east London has been jailed for life
Daniel Whybrow will serve a minimum of 24 years for the attack in Canning Town in October last year
The court was told the 46 year old repeatedly stabbed Raish Ahmed following a row over the main door to the flats being left open
Detective Chief Inspector Samantha Townsend, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Unit, said:
"My thoughts remain with the victim’s family at this difficult time.
"I hope the sentencing brings a small measure of peace and justice to them."
Jurors were told that during the altercation, Whybrow went to his kitchen window and grabbed a knife from inside.
He began to shout “I will kill you” before trying to attack Raish’s friend.
CCTV and footage reviewed by detectives then showed Whybrow turning his attention to Raish and stabbing him multiple times, continuing even after the victim fell to the floor and tried to defend himself with a steering lock he had picked up.
A teenage boy was also injured by Whybrow as he attempted to protect Raish.
Whybrow was found guilty at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday, 22 August and sentenced as above to 24 years for murder as well as six years for grievous bodily harm to run concurrently.
He was acquitted of racially aggravated assault and threats to kill against Raish’s friend who was present at the scene of the murder.
