Man convicted of Ramane Wiggan murder in Lambeth
25 year old Ramane was fatally shot at a block of flats in 2019
A man has been convicted of shooting dead a 25 year old at a block of flats in south London over a drug debt.
Ramane Wiggan was fatally injured in West Norwood on the afternoon of March 27 2019 - he'd travelled to the area to collect £10,000 he believed he was owed.
26 year old Kaine Gilead of Grove Road in Surbiton will be sentenced on August 4 after being convicted of shooting Ramane with a Glock pistol.
Analysis of mobile phone data showed Gilead has travelled to Liverpool on the day of the shooting, returning to the capital the next month. He was arrested in May 2019.
It was also proven that Ramane and Gilead had spoken to each other on the phone in the hour before the shooting.
Met Police Detective Chief Inspector Kate Kieran said: "Today is not a day to celebrate but I do hope this verdict provides some comfort to Ramane's family and allows them to begin to move forward after their tragic loss.
"The evidence we collected against Gilead was overwhelming and showed him to have played a key part in the deliberate, planned and cold-blooded murder of Ramane.
"This case is also a tragic reminder of the misery drugs cause within communities and demonstrates how they can often act as a catalyst to more serious crimes."
