Man arrested after murder of woman in Walthamstow

Police were called to Lynmouth Road at around 3am this morning

A man is being questioned on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman in Walthamstow.

Police were called to Lynmouth Road at around 3am this morning (22nd July), finding a 32 year old woman with stab wounds.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are now in the process of informing her next of kin.

A 45 year old man is in custody. It's believed he is known to the victim.

Chief Superintendent Rhona Hunt, responsible for policing in Walthamstow, said:

“Our thoughts are with this young woman’s family following their devastating loss. Urgent enquiries by officers led to the swift arrest of a suspect who is now in custody.

"We will now work to establish the circumstances that led to this terrible tragedy.

"Officers will remain in the area to provide reassurance. Please speak to them if you any concerns.”
