Child in "life-threatening condition" after being hit by bus in London

The driver of the bus has already been arrested by Met Police officers

A nine-year-old girl has been left in a "life-threatening" condition after she was hit by a bus in London.

The child was walking in the London borough of Bexleyheath, together with her five-year-old brother when they were struck by the bus on Saturday morning (August 3rd).

Both children were taken to hospital by ambulance, with the boy sent to the be looked at by doctors as a precaution.

According to the Metropolitan Police, the driver of the bus was arrested at the scene at in Bexleyheath and currently remains in police custody.

Investigators were called to Watling Street in Bexleyheath on Saturday morning.

It is believed that the children had been walking alongside a family relative when the crash happened, though exact details are currently being established.

Officers were eventually called to Watling Street just after 9am, according to the force - and an investigation was launched following the incident.

Since then, enquiries are now being carried out - and the force are appealing to the public to come forward with any information they may have.
