'In the sunshine, it's the best city on earth': Londoners make the most of mini-heatwave - as temperatures go over 24 degrees
The Met Office says it's provisionally the hottest March day in 53 years
Londoners have been out in force in parks across the city today - amid record-breaking temperatures.
We've been in Regent's Park, where one man told us his plan for the day was: "Chill, few bevvies, eat, relax."
A woman sitting with a friend said: "It's making me feel very hopeful about the end of restrictions."
"I'm excited to get my tan started," she added.
The mercury hit 24.2C in St James's Park - slightly below the UK's hottest ever March temperature of 25.6C, recorded in 1968 at Mepal in Cambridgeshire.
The Met Office tweeted: "Temperatures have exceeded 24°C in places today.
"This makes it provisionally the warmest March day in the UK for 53 years.''
Temperatures are forecast to hit 24C again on Wednesday around the London area.
The Met Office earlier tweeted there would be "exceptional warmth'' and "massive'' temperature contrasts as the month comes to a close.
