It has been confirmed that 13 candidates will be battling for Mayor Of London.

The election for the position, which is on Thursday 2nd May, will take place alongside elections for the London Assembly.

The Mayor Of London has a key role in the way the capital is governed and oversees lots of plans - including policies around environment, crime, housing and transport.

The Mayor also serves as the capital's Police and Crime Commissioner, governs the Metropolitan Police and chairs Transport For London.

Current Mayor Sadiq Khan is aiming to win a record-breaking third term, having been in the role since 2016.

He is taking on 12 other candidates, including the Conservative Susan Hall - who is currently a member of the London Assembly.

Londoners will also have to show photo ID to vote in the upcoming election. If you don't have an acceptable form of identification, you will have to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate. The deadline to do that is the 24th April.
