Around 70 firefighters have spent the night tackling a large blaze at a warehouse in Belvedere in south east London.

Half the ground floor and most of the roof of the two storey industrial warehouse on Crabtree Manorway South are damaged.

The fire service say an internal wall between two industrial units partially collapsed. There were no reports of any injuries.

Station Commander Chris Mattingley, who was at the scene, said: "The fire was producing heavy smoke which could be seen from the dual carriageway.

"One of the Brigade's 32-metre turntable ladders was used as a water tower, to get water on to the building externally from height.

"Firefighters remained on scene throughout the night."

The Brigade was called at 2023 and the fire was under control by 2321. Fire crews from Plumstead, Erith, Bexley and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
