Police in Central London say they made a total of nine arrests during a Palestine protest march through the city on Saturday 28th October - with many of the suspected Public Order arrests being treated as potential hate crimes.

It's reported that an estimated 100,000 people took part in the march yesterday - an event that saw several clashes with police close to Downing Street. Further clashes between protesters and British nationalists are alleged to have occurred close to Whitehall's Cenotaph War Memorial.

The Met says two arrests have been made in connection with assaults on Officers, with the other seven arrests all on suspicion of Public Order offences.

Special stop and search powers were given to Officers during the protest, with a further order in place requiring people to remove items that may conceal their identity.
