New campaign launches in London to get women home safely
Home Safe will refund part of your Uber fare
A London man has set up a campaign to help women and girls get home safely in the capital.
Its aim is to help alleviate the financial strain for people who can't afford to get a taxi home by refunding part of the cost of an Uber journey.
Home Safe (@homesafeldn) has already raised thousands of pounds.
Its founder Match has told us why he wanted to set up the scheme.
He said:
"As a man I felt really responsible.
"This is an issue caused by men so it's our responsibility to step up and do our bit because we need to collectively come together and make change.
"I've seen it from my own experiences and my friends' experiences that London is not as safe a place as we'd like it to be.
"So I want to make it as safe as possible by doing our bit."
Match told us he has big plans for the campaign for the future.
He said:
"We're not the solution but we're a step in the right direction.
"By creating these small campaigns where people are doing their bit, we're all taking a step in the right direction to make London a safer place.
"We want to expand to all over the world to try and make Home Safe global.
"We want to make it available to as many people as we possibly can".
