Police are continuing to appeal for information after a man suffered life changing injuries from an assault in Brixton.

Marco Pannone, who was 25 at the time, was working in a restaurant on Ferndale Road on the 2nd December.

At just after 11pm, he was outside the building when two men approached him and one of them punched him in the face. The unprovoked punch caused him to fall to the ground and bang his head The men then ran off towards Nursery Road.

Marco was taken to hospital where he had to undergo emergency surgery and was in a coma for 11 days. On Boxing Day, he suffered a bleed and had to be operated on again, that resulted in him returning to intensive care for a second time.

Whilst he has now started to recover, his family has been told that he faces rehabilitation challenges along the way.

Police have yet to identify the two men and want anyone who saw anything at all that evening to contact them.

Detective Constable Edward Cartwright, from the Metropolitan Police, says, “As a result of this incident, Marco, a young man, has been left with life changing injuries which resulted in him being kept in hospital over the Christmas period.

"Both him and his family are struggling to come to terms with the impact of the assault and will need time to process what has happened.

“We need to find the person responsible for this unprovoked attack, and I am asking the public to help."

Anyone who can help the investigation is asked to call police via 101 quoting reference CAD 85/03Dec22
