Body found in Thames in search for missing swimmer

A body has been found in the river Thames in south west London following reports a man had got into difficulty while swimming on Sunday.

Police, the RNLI, Ambulance service, Fire Brigade and the national police air service had all been searching the area at Barge Walk in Kingston.

A Metropolitan Police Spokesperson said: "At around 12:20pm on Monday, 13 May, the body of a man was recovered by police officers from the river at Barge Walk, Kingston.

Formal identification awaits, however officers believe this is the man who entered the water on Sunday."
