120 fire fighters tackle blaze in East Ham
It happened at a shop with dwellings above
Investigations are underway into the cause of a shop fire in East Ham where around 120 officers tackled the blaze.
It happened last night on High Street North at around 7pm on the 29th May.
Half of the ground floor and a small part of the first floor were alight.
Station Commander Darren McTernan attended the scene. He said: "Crews worked hard to bring this fire under control.
"Firefighters will remain on scene for several hours damping down hotspots.
"During this time, High Street North will remain closed."
One of the Brigade's 32-metre turntable ladders was used at the scene to help fight the fire from above.
Control Officers took the first of 12 calls at 19:02 and mobilised crews from East Ham, Plaistow, Stratford and surrounding fire stations to the scene. The fire was under control by 23:57.
