Zebu Sinks In Liverpool's Albert Dock

Published 4th Sep 2015

One of Liverpool's famous tall ships has sunk in the Albert Dock. Zebu went down outside The Tate in the early hours of this morning. Jane Moore Media which is in charge of marketing at the Albert Dock has given us this statement:

"We are thankful that the vessel was unoccupied at the time of the sinking and a full investigation is underway as to the cause of the sinking.

A marine surveyor and a team of engineers are currently on site and it is hoped that the vessel will be raised as soon as all safety inspections have taken place.

While Zebu will be refloated it may or may not be in time for the Albert Dock pirate festival next weekend. Pirate Festival will go on as planned with live stages, pirate battles and the support of Mersey Heritage Trust with live cannon fire on the water with the other historic tall ships Vilma and Kathleen & May.

In the meantime all our thoughts are with Mersey Heritage Trust at this very difficult time."
