As Merseyside prepares for another day in the searing heat, There's an urgent appeal for crucial supplies to help keep some of Liverpool's most vulnerable people safe in the sun.

Forecasters are predicting today could be even hotter than yesterday, with temperatures in the mid to high 30's expected.

Outreach teams are working round the clock to keep the city's rough sleepers hydrated, and topped up with suncream as well as advising them to stay in the shade.

Sophie Mayor is from the Whitechapel Centre :

"Sun cream, sun hats and umberellas would be really good. Bottled water and reuseable bottles that people can fill up.

"Anything to try to encourage people to stay in the shade and keep hydrated. Things like heat stroke, the risk is really high for the rough sleeper population so it's really dangerous.

"Lots of us have had heatsroke in the past and recovering from that is really challenging if you are on the streets.

"We know the risks of heat and alcohol consumption but if you have an addiction there are other things that take priority in life, it'll be a challenge for a lot of people on the streets".
