Merseyside Police have confirmed a woman has died after being found on a park bench on Easter Sunday.

Emergency services were called out to the scene on Chapel Street in Southport, where the woman was treated at the scene - but she later died.

In a statement, officers said: "We can confirm emergency services were called to Chapel Street, Southport just after 9.15am on Sunday (31 March 2024) following concerns for a woman who appeared to be unconscious on a bench.

"Emergency services attended and the woman was treated at the scene and taken to hospital. She was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.
