Woman arrested on suspicion of drug driving after car crashes into Everton primary school

Police were called to The Beacon Primary just after eight o'clock this morning

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving after a car crashed into a primary school in Everton.

At around 8.30am, police received reports of a car in collision with Beacon Primary School in Heyworth Street, Everton.

Merseyside police say:

"A 39-year-old woman from Walton has now been arrested on suspicion of drug driving and careless driving and taken to a police station.

"The roads are now open and the school is being assessed for any structural damage and remains closed.

"Thanks for your patience while emergency services and our partners deal with this incident.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to contact @MerPolCC or 101 with reference 24000362016."
