A 16 year old boy from the Wirral is being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder following a hit and run in Walton which left a teenager fighting for his life in hosptial.

The 17-year-old victim suffered multiple injuries when the motorbike he was riding in the Walton area on Friday night was in collision with a dark-coloured 4X4 car at around 9pm.

The driver of the car failed to stop at the scene and detectives have been carrying out extensive enquiries throughout the weekend to trace the vehicle and its occupants.

Det Ch Insp Mark Kameen from Liverpool CID said:

"The 4X4 car we are keen to trace is remains outstanding and we still need the public's help in finding it. It has a front headlight out, a distinctive silver rail running underneath the front and rear passenger doors and a spare wheel mounted on the back"

"We believe a 4X4 like this was in Wirral yesterday at around lunchtime so I would appeal to people in both Liverpool and Wirral to look out for it and call us if you think you know where it is."
