Woodside Ferry Terminal could be closed as part of plans to secure the future of Mersey Ferries.

A 20 year strategy has been set out by Mersey Travel to enable them to continue. The strategy is centred around bringing down the cost of Merry Ferries to the public purse, while building on their commerical potential, ensuring they are sustainable well into the future.

A new focus will be given on the leisure market, and there will be an introduction of two new ferries. But services between Seacombe and the Pier Head will be cut. This is to reduce opertional costs.

Gary Evans, Meresytravel's head of customer delivery said "efficiency has to go hand in hand with looking at the wider economic benefits the Mersey Ferries bring to the Liverpool City Region- looking at how we can build passenger numbers and their commercial potential."

Overall Merry Ferries plan to build and grow leisure markets, with less of a focus on cross-river services as the use of their services continue to decline.
