Be warned! WhatsApp is making an update which will delete ALL of your messages in the app unless you back them up! As we reported back in September, the messaging app wants to see everyone backup their messages on Google Drive, so anything that hasn't been archived will be deleted. The time has now come to for users to act.

Luckily for users, there are a few simple steps to follow so you don't lose those precious messages and pics that you've been receiving for years!

Four steps to backup your data:

1) Open WhatsApp's Settings (cog shape in the bottom right)

2) Select the 'Chat' option and open up 'Chat backup'.

3) If you already have a Google Drive account you can login, if not you'll need to set one up.

4) Press 'Allow', now your messages will be automatically backed up! Easy as that!

Further information about this update can be found on the WhatsApp website.

In addition to this backup change, there will be a new Vacation Mode! That's right, if you find yourself hounded by notifications from group conversations - even though they are 'technically' muted, then this is the feature for you.

Currently muting a conversation will still mean you get the notifications as 'unread' messages in the app and on the app icon, but now, that could be a thing of the past with this new mode. According to WABetaInfo, a technology website, they have seen a new version of WhatsApp with this new functionality.

We can't wait to try that out!
