Coldplay played tribute to Warrington band, Viola Beach during their Glastonbury headline set by covering their song "Boys That Sing".

The Warrington band were on tour in Sweden in February when their car plummeted into a canal. The crash killed all four band members, Kris, River, Tomas and Jack, and their manager Craig Tarry.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin spoke about the tragedy and said his band "thought that was just the worst". He reflected on Coldplay's journey from the Other Stage to headlining the Pyramid Stage in Glastonbury and said the late band "reminded us of ourselves in our early days".

Coldplay launched into a live performance of Viola Beach's song as a video recording of the late band played.

Chris Martin finished his introduction with "So Kris and Jack and River and Tomas and their manager Craig, this is what would have maybe been you in 20 years or so and I hope we do this song justice."

Coldplay also played 'Fix You', 'Hymn For The Weekend' and 'Charlie Brown', during their Glastonbury set, welcoming Chris Martin's children, Apple and Moses on stage for their new single 'Up & Up' while the children's mother, Gwyneth Paltrow, took photos from the wings.

Barry Gibb was also welcomed on stage with the band to sing 'Stayin' Alive' fulfilling a dream of Michael Eavis, the man behind the huge music festival.
